Dr. Peter DeGraziano, OD, FAAO, FIALVS
Dr. Peter DeGraziano, OD, FAAO, FIALVS, is an optometrist whose practice is focused on Low Vision eye care. Through the use of specialized custom eyeglasses and devices, Dr. DeGraziano helps Low Vision patients enjoy activities which have become difficult or impossible because of sight-limiting diseases (such as macular degeneration).
With over 23 years of dedicated experience in vision care, Dr. DeGraziano is a trusted figure in the Low Vision community. He is currently a(n):
- Fellow of the International Academy of Low Vision.
- Fellow of the American Academy of Optometry / member of the Low Vision section.
- Educator who has provided multiple COPE approved continuing education lectures on clinical optics for optometrists who practice within the field of Low Vision.
- Trainer for a renowned in-person program designed to increase patient access to Low Vision care by training optometrists from around the county who aspire to provide care for visually impaired patients.
- Director of Program Development for a 501c3 charitable organization.
- Examiner and/or ‘expert witness’ for Low Vision-related legal cases.
- Inventor who has designed multiple unique Low Vision devices for challenging cases.
Dr. DeGraziano attended the Pennsylvania College of Optometry, where he was the recipient of several scholarships, including a prestigious full academic scholarship from the United States Navy. In 2001, he obtained a Doctorate in Optometry, graduating with Academic Honors. Dr. DeGraziano proudly served as an officer in the Navy for several years, during which time he provided eye care to the men and women of the United States Armed Forces. During his career, Dr. DeGraziano has practiced in a multitude of clinical settings, including government health care facilities and private practice. He was personally trained in Low Vision care by the founder and president of the International Academy of Low Vision Specialists (IALVS).
When not working, Dr. DeGraziano enjoys spending time with his wife and two children. For exercise, he swims and hikes beautiful San Diego. Dr. DeGraziano has a passion for all types of games. He can be found at coffee shops, from time to time, publicly embarrassing his children over a game of Monopoly!
